RIVM-compatible magnetic field calculations: accurate and specific
Magnetic fields carry potential health risks, and in 2005 the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM) issued an advice paper for policies on overhead high-voltage power lines. We helped the Ministry to formulate its advice.
The Ministry’s advice is to prevent situations near overhead power lines where children might encounter protracted exposure to magnetic fields. The advice applies to fields with an average strength in excess of 0.4 microteslas per year. We calculate specific magnetic field zones in the manner defined by RIVM, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment.
We provide the following services:
We advise on and review magnetic field calculations:
- calculating the specific magnetic field zones of overhead power lines according to the RIVM’s guidelines
- calculating specific magnetic field zones for high-voltage power stations according to the RIVM’s guidelines
- calculating specific magnetic field zones of underground power cables
